Shizen Ya

We Stopped here on a whim while we were getting a purse repaired next door, and we were delighted by the quality of the sushi. I’d say it’s the best quality sushi available at lunch that I’ve found in Vancouver. Sure, you can go to a high-priced omakase for dinner, but if you want really good quality fish, it’s not just the usual tuna and salmon slices. It’s harder to find at lunchtime.

The Chirashi bowl here is a really great way to explore a variety of their fresh offerings at a reasonable price. The lunch special comes with a salad and their miso soup, which is particularly delicious because they make their own broth.

It’s interesting that their orientation on healthy food includes serving everything with brown rice. That might not be my first choice, but it was very good.

This is definitely now at the top of my go-to list for sushi lunch in Vancouver.
